My photographs are largely documentary, shaped by my perception of athleticism and physicality—often circling the space between nature and the beast. Ranging from portraiture to still life, these images emphasize the spirit of sport, discipline, and the body in motion. I’m drawn to movement—and to the poetry of the photographic pause.

Nils received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and earned his M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Nils and his wife Regina split their time between New York, Oregon and Iowa alongside their children Emmet, Faye, Sonnie and dogs Pearl, Edith, and Nellie.
